Do you ever take time to just survey the things around you? Take time to think that not everything is what it seems?

All day we've been having an on again, off again rainstorm. Sometimes it's thunder and sometimes it doesn't.

For most of the morning I've been out on my balcony, barefoot and in thin pajamas.

The rain was coming down extremly hard and it was so loud. I mean loud. It left no room for thoughts in my mind. Instead I kind of just surveyed everything around me, trying to take in all the beauty of the sights and sounds that were stimulating my craving mind, hopefully saving to later turn into some articulate memory.

I had a brief moment where I wasn't worrying about something or analyzing someone.

A moment where there was no stress, no pressure, no hope.

Just beauty. Nothing more than witnessing a beautiful rainstorm.

It was a great way to spend a morning.

So the rain calmed down and Christine and I decided we'd walk to the grocery store to get some last-minute needs for camping.

It was only lightly spitting and we thought we'd get home before the rain.

Bad judgment.

While we were in the store the sound of the rain gradually got harder and harder. As we were checking out, it sounded like a heard of elephants on the roof.

The lady offered to let us wait for it to calm down, but we looked at each other, smiled and just walked out.

It was coming down in buckets.

I was drenched, and I mean drenched, by the time we got home.

As we were crossing the street, we jumped in this one massive puddle and we didn't care that people in cars were watching, shaking their heads saying "Those poor children, caught in the rain."

It was fun. previous//next
